The Bloomington-Normal YMCA is excited to announce a new partnership with Girls on the Run of Central Illinois, a nationally recognized organization dedicated to empowering young girls through physical activity and life skills development. This collaboration aims to bring even more opportunities for local girls to build confidence, foster healthy relationships, and develop important life skills through running, mentorship and community engagement.

"We are thrilled to partner with Girls on the Run of Central Illinois," said Breena Campbell, Wellness Director of the Bloomington-Normal YMCA. "This partnership aligns perfectly with our commitment to supporting the physical, emotional and social well-being of our community's youth. Together, we can empower the next generation of girls to be strong and confident leaders."

Through this partnership, the YMCA will serve as a host site for Girls on the Run programming, offering convenient access for girls in grades 3rd through 6th and families in the Bloomington-Normal area. Participants will have access to resources, mentorship and activities that encourage them to develop their strengths and embrace their unique identities.

The first joint initiative between the Bloomington-Normal YMCA and Girls on the Run will kick off this fall on September 2nd, 2024. Registration is open now and closes on September 1st, 2024. Both organizations encourage parents, guardians and community members to get involved and support this empowering program.
