The Bloomington-Normal YMCA is excited to announce the appointment of Tim Ready as the new Senior Director of Aquatics. Tim brings with him over a decade of experience in aquatic management, safety protocols, and aquatics development, making him an ideal fit to lead the YMCA’s aquatics programs into an exciting new era.

Tim's passion for aquatic safety and instruction began early in his career as a Recreation Specialist teaching swim lessons. Most recently, he served as the Aquatics Supervisor for the City of Lafayette, CO, where he successfully oversaw a variety of swim programs and implemented critical safety improvements that benefited both staff and swimmers.

As Senior Director of Aquatics at the Bloomington-Normal YMCA, Tim will oversee all aspects of aquatic operations, including the YMCA’s swim lessons, Falcons Swim Team, lifeguard certification programs, and community water safety initiatives. He will also be responsible for ensuring that all aquatic facilities meet the highest standards of safety and service, while fostering an inclusive environment where swimmers of all ages and skill levels can thrive.

"We are thrilled to welcome Tim to our leadership team," said Patrick Mainieri, COO of the Bloomington-Normal YMCA. "His expertise, vision, and enthusiasm will be instrumental in expanding and enhancing our aquatics offerings, and we look forward to seeing how he will positively impact our YMCA staff, members, and the broader community."

Tim Ready shared his excitement about joining the Bloomington-Normal YMCA, saying, “I’m fired up to take on this role and work with a team that’s as dedicated to community and water safety as I am. I’m ready to build on the strong foundation here and launch innovative programs that’ll challenge everyone—from beginners to experienced swimmers—to push their limits and thrive in the water. Let’s make some waves!”

The Bloomington-Normal YMCA has been a staple of the community for over 169 years, offering a wide range of programs designed to promote health, wellness, and personal development for individuals of all ages. Tim’s addition to the leadership team is a key step in continuing this tradition of service and excellence.
