The Bloomington-Normal YMCA is excited to share that we've added five new directors to our leadership team, which includes three new positions. The personnel added to our leadership team are as follows: Nic Tackels, Director of Sports, Dani Freeman, Director of Community Relations and Events, Nicolette Hursey, Director of Wellness, Morghan Hackman, Director of Swim School and Melissa Juvinall, Director of Member Engagement.

These names may seem familiar to members of our community who frequently stop into our facility or participate in our programs; all five of our new directors have spent time working with us in different capacities across various departments. Freeman, Hursey, Hackman and Juvinall have all served the Y's Operations Team in Coordinator roles for their respective departments before being promoted to their new roles for their exemplary work. Tackels has assisted the YMCA's Youth Development team by serving children in after school care during our Y PALS program and as a Sports site supervisor during our Winter Basketball season. He has done an excellent job in supporting the needs of both departments through his work.

"When scouting for talent to join our organization, we often start our search within the walls of our facility," said B.J. Wilken, CEO of the Bloomington-Normal YMCA. "Many organizations do this, but for us, it's a way to provide recognition for the people on our staff who work hard and who truly embody the core values of the Y. It's paramount for us to put personnel in positions where they're given the opportunity to do the most good with the skills they've cultivated through their time with us."

These promotions will allow Directors and Senior Directors more time to focus on the areas in which they specialize, enabling them to have more time to focus on the individual needs of their staff members and the community in which they serve. Additionally, it will provide a sizable expansion to the talent pool and expertise from which our Senior Leadership team can draw from, enabling the Bloomington-Normal YMCA to be a stronger and more responsive organization for our community.

Freeman, Hursey, Juvinall, Tackels and Hackman have all begun serving in their new roles.
