Kaitlin Skeate joins the YMCA with a strong background in aquatics leadership and education. A graduate of Illinois State University with a degree in Physical Education and a minor in Athletic Coaching, Skeate brings both academic and hands-on experience to her new role. She previously managed swim lessons for the City of Bloomington while also serving as an assistant coach for their swim team. In addition, Skeate has supported the Springfield YMCA through work in aquatics, youth development, and community events. During her time at ISU, she was also a dedicated student-athlete, competing on both the Cross Country and Track teams.
In her role as Director of Swim School, Skeate will lead the continued growth and innovation of the YMCA’s swim lesson programs, ensuring participants of all ages build confidence, develop skills, and stay safe in and around the water.
Kim Baez has been promoted to Director of Aquatic Operations after serving in a variety of roles since joining the YMCA in June 2022, most recently as an Aquatics Coordinator. Throughout her tenure, Baez has demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence, safety, and inclusive programming. She holds active Lifeguard and Lifeguard Instructor certifications through the American Red Cross and is Swim Angelfish certified, supporting the YMCA’s adaptive swim program.
As Director of Aquatic Operations, Baez will oversee the day-to-day management of aquatic programming outside of swim school, lifeguard development, and safety protocols, ensuring a high-quality experience for all members and program participants.

Kim Baez will transition to her role as Director of Aquatic Operations on Monday, April 20th. Kaitlin Skeate will begin her role on Monday, May 25th, 2026.
