The Bloomington-Normal YMCA is proud to offer adaptive private lessons following the Swim Angelfish curriculum, a specialized program designed to support swimmers with sensory, physical, and cognitive challenges. Through this approach, we provide a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where every individual can thrive in the water.
Our custom, perpetual swim program allows swimmers to progress at their own pace, with goals set collaboratively between families and instructors from day one. Whether focusing on water safety, building swim skills, or simply gaining comfort and confidence in the pool, our personalized approach ensures that each lesson meets the unique needs and abilities of every participant.

Our 2026 Annual Pool Maintenance will begin Tuesday, August 25th, 2026 with the Competition Pool. Once maintenance on the Competition Pool is complete, work will begin immediately on the Recreation/Therapy Pool. While the exact timetable for each closure is not yet confirmed, our team is aiming to have both pools open by the end of our operating hours on Thursday, September 3rd, 2026.
Here’s what you need to know during this time:
One pool open at a time: Our goal is to keep one pool available while the other is closed.
Temporary schedules: Both pool schedules will be Open Swim all day, outside of Aqua Fit classes. Regular schedules will return after maintenance.
Aqua Fit adjustments: Class locations and times may change to accommodate maintenance. Please check the Technogym app for updates.
No Swim School lessons: These will resume after both pools reopen.
Lap swimming during Competition Pool closure: One lap lane will be set up in the Rec/Therapy Pool. Please use circle swimming so the lane can be shared safely.
We appreciate your patience as we complete this important maintenance to keep our pools in great condition for our members.
