Bloomington, IL – The Bloomington-Normal YMCA is proud to announce that it has been awarded Praesidium Accreditation™, a prestigious recognition that underscores the organization’s unwavering commitment to the highest standards of child safety and abuse prevention. This accreditation, granted by Praesidium, the national leader in abuse risk management, signifies that the Bloomington-Normal YMCA has successfully implemented robust policies, screening practices, and training programs to protect children and vulnerable individuals.
“At the Bloomington-Normal YMCA, the safety and well-being of our members, especially children, is our top priority,” said Cassie DeGuido, Senior Director of Programs and Certified Praesidium Guardian, at the Bloomington-Normal YMCA. “Earning Praesidium Accreditation affirms our dedication to creating a safe environment where youth and families can thrive with confidence.”
Praesidium Accreditation is awarded to organizations that demonstrate adherence to best practices in abuse prevention. The rigorous process includes an extensive assessment of policies, background screening procedures, staff and volunteer training, monitoring and supervision guidelines, and response protocols. By meeting these stringent criteria, the Bloomington-Normal YMCA has reinforced its leadership in providing safe and enriching experiences for the community.
The accreditation process required the YMCA to undergo a comprehensive evaluation and implement measures designed to minimize risks. As a result, the Bloomington-Normal YMCA has strengthened its commitment to proactive safety initiatives, ensuring that all staff and volunteers are equipped with the knowledge and tools to uphold a culture of safety.
“We take great pride in this achievement, but our work does not stop here,” added Patrick Mainieri, Chief Operating Officer of the Bloomington-Normal YMCA. “We will continue to uphold and exceed these high standards, keeping our community’s trust at the core of our mission.”
